Cua-Toc will receive nearly U.S. $ 268,000 after suing Eric Cervantez, his employer, for the theft of his ticket. Cervantez argued that the ticket was his and that he had given to Cua-Toc the money to buy the ticket and cigarettes. The store video shows Cua-Toc smiling and raising his hands after the winning ticket was validated by the store owner. This was evidence to determine that, indeed, Cua-Toc was the owner of the ticket and therefore, winner of that money.
